The Huey 800 significantly enhances performance, safety and reliability when compared to the standard UH-IH.  All Huey 800 engine and rotor operating parameters are automatically controlled.  Fuel  consumption is so low that mission  endurance is improved by well over 50%.  Pilot workload is reduced through automatic starting, automatic engine and aircraft limit protection and simplification of emergency procedures including; emergency engine restart, short shaft failure, engine compressor stall and overspeed.  The Huey 800 provides all these advantages with no change to dynamic or structural components. The UH-IH can be converted in two weeks or as little as 200 man-hours.  

All of the above claims have been validated with a Huey 800 test and demonstration program. For example, on April 22, 1993 the aircraft at left shattered a world helicopter distance record by over 600 statute miles, flying nonstop and unrefueled from Oxnard, California to Dobbins AFB, Georgia, a distance of 1975 miles. The fuel burn on the 13-hour flight averaged 311 pounds per hour.
